Performance, battery life and charging

The iPad Air is getting a body refresh that brings a matte finish metal body that you know and love with the iPad Pro. When it launches, this sleek metallic finish will be available in five colors with some colors to please every customer. The iPad will be available in green and sky blue with Classic Silver, Space Gray and Rose Gold.

This new iPad Air will be Apple’s first device to be launched with a 6-core A14 bionic processor, which we speculate we will see in the new iPhones whenever we launch. For Silicon Nerd, this is really exciting, as it is the industry’s first 5-nanometer chip. This processor packs more than 11 billion transistors on board, the A13 has grown more than 40% compared to Apple’s 7nm technology, and the iPad Air 3 has a bigger jump than the A12 that Apple claims its performance The new generation iPad Air will increase by 40%. The A14 also has a 4-core GPU that will provide a 30% increase in graphics performance over the 2019 Air Edition.

The new iPad Air will offer 10 hours of battery life, similar to the marketing for the 2019 version. It is jumping on the iPad Air USB-C bandwagon and furthering the transition of Apple products towards this standard. This increases the normal power-transfer speed and brings a wider range of compatible peripherals to the old power standard. Hopefully, a future where we can finally use a cable is all at hand.

Winner: iPad Air 4

Design and durability

The refreshed iPad Air borrows many of its design elements from its larger, badder brother, the iPad Pro. But with any refresh some new features come.

As the new iPad Air is getting away with the home button, Apple has launched a new version of Touch ID that will be integrated into the power button in this device. This is the first time Apple has inserted Touch ID into the side or top buttons and this is the smallest surface they have ever integrated into Touch ID. This may be a sign of things to come in future devices.

The new iPad Air features stereo speakers, although without the hands, it’s difficult to know if they bump into the current generation of sound performance.

Winner: iPad Air 4

Display

The new iPad Air continues to borrow elements from the iPad Pro with its new liquid retina display. Since the new design features redesigned bezels, it now works with clocking at 10.60 inches by 2360 x 4040 pixels with a 10.9 inch display. Apple has included a few more minor elements familiar to iPad Pro users such as anti-reflective coating and true tone display, although some of these are already available on existing iPads.

Winner: iPad Air 4

The camera

The new iPad Air features a 12MP wide rear camera, a significant upgrade from the previous iPad Air’s 8MP camera. This of course allows the new iPad to capture video and images at higher resolution and higher frame rates. With the huge increase in machine learning and graphics processing thanks to the new A14 processor, Apple is hoping that this new camera will unlock a richer video and image capture and editing experience for the user.

Winner: iPad Air 4

Software and updates

The iPad Air will ship with the new iPad OS 14, promising faster performance. Although the iPad Air can be updated for the iPad OS 14 from 2019 onwards, with an increase in processing power on the new Air A14 chip it should bring with it significant advantages when running the OS.

Winner: iPad Air 4

special features

It is worth noting that the new iPad Air 4 is compatible with the second generation Apple Pencil. It will appeal to any artist, designer, engineer, or whoever is regularly attracted to their iPad. The new Air Magic is also compatible with the keyboard that we all love with the iPad Pro.

Winner: iPad Air 4

cost

The new iPad Air will launch with the same exact structure as the previous one and is being listed at $ 599 for the 64GB Wi-Fi version, with Wi-Fi with 256GB storage and $ 729 for the cellular model. There is a possibility of a price drop in the old version soon. Both are available from a wide range of carriers, and the latest version will be available from Apple in October.

Overall Winner: iPad Air 4

The new iPad Air is a clear winner and a worthy upgrade from its most recent generation. This new iPad Air also saves almost every single feature of the iPad Pro, most recently for LiDAR scanners, four speakers, true tone flash and a few other one-offs. This is a huge upgrade in both processing power and overall gadget, and its launching at the same price as the Last Air makes it an easy choice.
