Google on Thursday unveiled the search giant’s mobile operating system, the next version of Android. Software, called Android 12, A preview version or developer beta meant for app developers to test before it is released more widely.

The new version of Android focuses mostly on under-the-hood fixes, which aim to keep people’s phones running smoothly. Some updates try to protect apps from freezing, while others make it easier for apps to get photos and videos. Google also redesigned the information and tried to make them more sensitive.

Google’s new Android releases as Apple has rocked the app developer world with new privacy policies for its iOS software. In December, Apple launched a feature called “Nutrition Label”, which tells people what personal data their personal data, such as financial information, contacts or browsing history, are collecting. Another change by Apple is, in the coming months, developers will have to ask people for permission to gather data and track them on apps and websites. The changes have upset other tech giants, including Facebook.

Google’s user privacy features don’t go as far. Give an update for Android 12 “[s] Users have greater transparency and control over how cookies can be used on sites, ”Dave Burke, vice president of engineering for Android, wrote in a blog post.

As Tech World reacted to Apple’s privacy update, Google considered a less “rigorous” approach to giving users choices about app tracking, according to a report by Bloomberg earlier this month.

“We are always looking for ways to work with developers to raise the bar on privacy while enabling a healthy, ad-supported app ecosystem,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement. He did not answer questions about how Android 12’s privacy update compared to Apple’s.

Android is the dominant mobile operating system in the world, powering around nine out of every 10 smartphones shipped globally. But Google’s biggest challenge with new versions of Android is actually getting them on people’s phones, as wireless carriers and handset manufacturers may slow down the process.

Google has not released user figures for the previous version of the software, Android 11. But the last time Google updated its distribution numbers in May 2019, Android 9 was only installed on 10.4% of Android phones. Earlier three versions released were 64.4 percent Android phones.

In contrast, Apple is quick to postpone its adoption numbers. As of December, 72% of Apple’s iPhones and other iOS devices are on the most recent version of their operating system, iOS 14.

A feature update of Android 12 tries to mitigate the issue, instead of allowing tech giants to update parts of Android through their Google Play Services system, requiring a full operating system update, which is wireless Or to be approved by device partners.
