The makers of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif-led Soyavanshi announced on Monday that they had postponed the film’s release date indefinitely due to an increase in coronovirus cases in Maharashtra. The film’s team in its official statement termed the decision taken by director Rohit Shetty as “brave and tough”. Shetty informed Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray about his decision in a virtual meeting held on Sunday, according to the statement.
“Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Uddhav Thackeray had a discussion yesterday with director Rohit Shetty. At the meeting, Mr. Uddhav Thackeray commended Rohit Shetty as he took the courageous and difficult decision to postpone Sooryavanshi due to the current COVID situation in the state, ”read the statement of the makers.
More than a year after the original release date of March 24, 2020, the big-budget police action Sooyravanshi was scheduled to hit theaters on April 30. The first delay to close theaters across the country was also caused by the epidemic. . On 15 October last year, however, theaters were allowed to resume operations, at 50 percent occupancy. Sooryavanshi’s team waited for the occupancy cap to increase. In February 2021, the central government announced an increase in occupancy, which encouraged production houses to schedule their films for theaters.
Subsequently, the Sooryavanshi team announced its release date on 30 April. The primary cast and producers announced a massive promotion in April. No word yet on the new release date.
