HBO is Max’s home, But if you’re not a Snyder fan, let’s take a look at what other movies the premium streamer has. From the recent flicks featuring lockdown, A Worth grabbing at a cinema if you can, HBO Max has a generous bag of star-studded originals.
Legendary / Warner Bros.
Godzilla vs Kong is only available for a month from 31 March, so you can catch it whenever you want. The MonsterVerse flick meets your expectations to a great extent: two iconic bees surround each other with little regard for a good plot or memorable human characters. Luckily, if you’re after the action taking place in the city, director Adam Wingard offers dazzling visions that bring you closer to the spectacle. With weird sci-fi and some laughter dash, it offers more than decent at the crowd-thirsty night.
Aka the Snyder Cut. This is to the encouragement of fans of Jack Snyder, who campaigned for the director to gain a second shot at the Justice League, as he was forced to leave before it was completed due to a personal tragedy. In Kadam Jas Whedon, but the theatrical version of 2017 was a critical and box office failure. Now, the four-hour Snyder directorial cut on HBO Max is ready, with a ton of new scenes, some new villains, and brilliant epilogues. If you’re on board with Snyder’s slo-mo style, it’s worth checking out the remarkably different basic vision.
Whether you like it or not, maybe how much you like Seth Rogen. You get a lot of it – he plays two roles in an American pickle, the first playing the role of Herschel Greenboom, a struggling Jewish laborer who lives in the US in 1919. He works in a pickle factory – and this is the place to get weird – falls into a vat of pickle that preserves him for 100 years. He wakes up in Brooklyn in 2019 and hangs around with his great-great-grandson Ben, also played by Seth Rogen. If you embrace this creative premise, this is a great low-comedy for the small screen that has some impressive chemistry between Rogan and Rogan.
It is a small gem on HBO Max. Unexpected stars Haley Lu Richardson and Barbie Ferreira cross a pair as a friend where pregnant teenager Veronica (Richardson) may undergo an abortion. Yes, it is about the pro-choice issue, in which Veronica’s parents have refused to allow abortions. But it also shifts into the major gear of all road-trip films, depicting a beautiful friendship between the two leads.
An upcoming drama featuring motorbikes. Charm City Kings features fresh young artists, including Zahi D’Allo Winston as the mouse, who drifted into the 14-year-old Baltimore’s biking world, to the downfall of her mother. The film’s strength lies in its impressive young talent and strong direction of motorbike action-related visuals. Plus Vandavision fans will cast Tyona Paris in a supporting role. Not exhaustive, but much to praise.
This is a bit of a novelty inclusion. See what Robert Zemeckis (director of Back to the Future) and Anne Hathaway did with their return to the Roald Dahl classic. Jahzir Nadeem Bruno is the Hero Boy, a young boy transformed into a mouse by Hathaway’s sometimes CGI’d Grand High Witch. No one is saying that this 1990 is close to the Angelica Huston original, but it’s intriguing enough to look a bit.
Meryl Streep is playing the role of a freak writer in a Steven Soderbergh comedy. What more do you need to know? If you want to know more: Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Alice Hughes (Streep) is struggling to finish her next book, chased by her literary agent (Gema Chan). He boarded a cruise ship with old friends, which inspired him for the most famous work. Tensions are strong. It looks great – Soderbergh uses crisp, natural light – and most of the dialogue is improvisational. See how Diane Wiest, Candice Bergen, Lucas Hedges and the rest of the impeccable cast have fun.
Anne Hathaway and Chiwel Isofor star in this stunning romance-com heist film by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity). The film was written and shot during lockdown, and the film’s background was truly epidemic. Hathaway and Ejiofor are planning to rob a jewelry store in London, while most stores are closed. Their relationship is struggling in lockdown, and they reevaluate one or two things amidst their insane mischief. This is not the most polished flick, but you are mainly for Hathaway and Ejiofor’s charisma. The inclusion of the epidemic will either intrigue you or you will be driven away.
