5 user experience fails and how to fix them – TechCrunch

Is hulu The first major streaming platform to provide a social viewing experience. And with most major league sports now being allowed to resume behind closed doors, Hulu’s joint offer with ESPN will help entertain 30+ million users of the service in the winter months.

But users have a surplus in the choice of streaming services right now, so how will Hulu Stay competitive?

With the help of UX Expert Peter Ramsey Built for Mars, we’re going to give Hulu an extra crunch tear UX, demonstrating five ways it can improve its overall user experience. These include easy product comparisons, consistent width, proportional progress bar, and other suggestions.

Compare features within packages

If you have different levels / versions of your product / service, make sure that the differences between these options are clear and easy to compare.

Fail: Hulu has four different packages, but the features listed are inconsistent between options, making it incredibly difficult to compare. Instead of using bullet points, they have buried the advantage within the paragraph.

Fix: Break paragraphs into bullet points. Then, make sure that the bullet points are consistently worded between options.

Steve O’Hear: I’m really surprised that it is linked to the marketing department’s past. Also there is not much to say that I would argue that a company is in trouble when UX wants business goals and customers, including layout and copy writing decisions. Would you agree with what happened here?

Peter Ramsey: Honestly, it happens all the time. I think this is just a symptom of designers looking for good things, not things that work well. I probably raise this issue on one-third of private audits – this is common.

Keep a consistent width

Try to maintain a constant page width during a single visit – unless there is a great benefit of changing the width.

Fail: During the Hulu sign-up process, the page width doubles to a completely redundant point. This is a disorientation to the user, with no explicit logic.

The Fix: It is the first consecutive half of his journey in Hulu and then it drops the ball. I will redesign these “extra-wide” pages as the default width.
