The iPhone 12 has impressed a lot in our review and comes with some awesome features. 5G support, A new design and support for Apple’s new Magassef charger. But some things are missing that we would like to see in an ideal world. No, they are not a deal of breakers, and they are not even the features we would find on any iPhone, but they may be worth keeping in mind, especially if you are thinking of making a switch from Android.

1. Expandable Storage

Apple has not allowed you to expand storage with any of your phones and new-generation microSD cards, including the iPhone 12. While this may not be a problem for many of you, you will need to think harder than ever about how much space you need, and how much storage you can afford. Apple charges a premium for more storage space by basing the 64GB iPhone 12 at $ 829, with the 256GB model priced at 979.

Being able to pop in a small microSD card will provide endless space for storing more photos and videos.

If you are Switching from android This might not be something you might have considered a lot, as many Android phones pop you into a microSD card to expand Aadhaar storage. If you plan to shoot a lot of 4K video or download very large, graphically demanding games, then you should look for higher capabilities.

2. Fingerprint Scanner

Apple retires the classic home button Built-in fingerprint scanner Many generations ago (not counting iPhone SEOf course) it should be replaced instead of FaceID, which uses facial recognition to secure your phone. For the most part it works well, and we don’t really miss it. That is until the coronovirus epidemic hits, and when we are outside and in public places, wearing a face mask becomes the norm. Face mask does not work with face mask So we are typing the PIN code to access our phone.

The in-screen fingerprint scanner will still provide biometric security, but will not take up any additional space on the phone.

While we would not like to see the return of a big button on the front of the phone, sketching the screen, many Android phones including the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and even affordable phones such as the OnePlus Nord have produced fingerprint scanners. In the performance itself. They are invisible and take no extra space on the phone, making them a beautiful solution for biometric security when face scanning is impossible.

3. 120 Hz screen refresh rate

All iPhone 12 models have 60Hz screen refresh rates, which was a disappointment for many. Hope Apple raises it to 120Hz. The fast refresh rate gives the phone a smooth look and feel, when you are using it, without moving with motion blur like moving between screens and feeling that bit snapper. This is a feature that is increasingly common on Android phones, including Samsung galaxy s20 And Oneplus nord.

The OnePlus 8T has a 120 Hz screen, which makes things look smoother as you scroll around.

Andrew Hoyle / CNET

It is likely that Apple opted to stay with 60Hz to help improve battery life, especially as the addition of 5G makes the phone even more power hungry. does it matter? Personally, no. If you place the iPhone 12 next to the OnePlus Nord with its 120Hz display (as I’ve done), you can probably tell a little bit of a difference, but I honestly think it’s not something you’ll ever see on the day. Please notice for use in.

The powerful processor inside the iPhone 12 model means that the display always feels choppy, which makes for a seamless experience despite the low refresh rate and I can carry a better battery on a faster screen any day.

4. telephoto lens

iPhone 12 camera can take some great pictures With its default wide view and with overlapping lenses. What it can’t do is zoom in with the telephoto lens found on the iPhone 12 Pro, 12 pro max Or like previous generations iphone 11 pro.

Does it matter to you how seriously you take your photography and how often you want to get closer to yourself in a scene, or do you like to capture as much as possible in front of you We do.

The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max have a telephoto lens that lets you zoom in on the action.

For me, photography skills are my number 1 priority in phones, so I want the telephoto lens to give me additional shooting options when I’m out and about. If you are a more casual shooter, you cannot miss it and will be perfectly happy with the brilliant shots you get from the other two lenses.

5. Select

Apple Pro coming There is an image format that uses some of the computational capabilities of cameras (including HDR merging) but allows for deeper editing options, much like a raw image taken on a professional DSLR. This is potentially a great compromise between full raw and standard JPEG with the camera dropping out, but it is a feature reserved for the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max.

Apple’s ProRaw can be a great help for professional editing of images as they have been taken. It is not yet available, so this image was taken in standard JPEG mode, which still allows for a lot of editing options.

Andrew Hoyle / CNET

This is certainly a beautiful niche feature that will be most devoted to photographers only (Of which i consider myself a proud member), As with telephoto lenses, more casual chances of shooters among you will never give its absence a second thought. There is a chance that Apple Pro may bring the feature to phones beyond the line, but it is more likely that this upgrade will reserve it as a more exclusive feature to help justify the cost.
