Udon movie Udayan acted in the lead roles of Rajat Barmecha and Ronit Roy.

Director Vikramaditya Motwane’s upcoming drama Udaan turned 10 on Thursday and filmmakers, actors Rajat Barmecha, Manjot Singh, and Anand Tiwari expressed their gratitude for their love for the “special” film.

The critically acclaimed title, which was released on July 16, 2010, was directed by Motwane as well as the first Bollywood gig for Barmecha.

The film was selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard category at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival and also won several awards at home.

Uday follows the story of Rohan (Barmecha), who is forced to live with his oppressive father, played by Ronit Roy in Jamshedpur, after being expelled from boarding school.

“Ten years … is nothing but love and gratitude to all who work and support the film,” Motwane wrote on Instagram with the film’s lead man with English subtitles “Who knows what next what happens”.

Barmecha said that Udayan is not only special for those who have worked on the film, but they have also seen it.

“… And it changed something in you. It helped you, moved you, inconvenienced you, inspired you, ”he captioned a behind-the-scenes video from the film’s set on Instagram.

Singh, who plays Maninder, one of Rohan’s school friends, thanked the audience for giving Udayan love over the years.

“This is one of my special films! Love you guys, ”said the Fukrey star.

Tiwari, who plays Appu, wrote “Das Sala Ki” Udaan (ten years of “Udayan”) with his picture from the set with a clapboard.

Udayan was co-written by Motwane and his frequent collaborator Anurag Kashyap, who also co-produced the film with Sanjay Singh and Ronnie Screwvala.

In addition to Barmecha, Roy was also praised for his performance as an alcoholic, abusive father.

Music by composer Amit Trivedi, especially the song “Ajadian”, was a highlight of the film.

In a 2017 interview, Barmecha told PTI that “hopefully we will see ‘Udaan 2’ in 2020, adding” it will be “super exciting in terms of being a trilogy”.

Udayan acted with others including Ram Kapoor, Ayan Bordia.
